This is a good thought for any day. So often we judge on appearances, both consciously and unconsciously. Regardless of our beliefs about beauty and looks/character, I think that society has us sensitized to judging based on covers. Do you follow the blog Learn Fun Facts? Gleanings from the Past #43 has an excerpt at the beginning about a man who others “neglected to salute…when shabbily apparelled, [but] paid him every possible respect when he had good clothes on.” Your poem reminds me of that passage.
